Short answer: yes! And it’s a total game-changer if you’re using Canva for brand design, social content, or client deliverables.

But (and you knew there was a but coming), there are a few things to know before you start dragging font files into your uploads folder.

Let’s walk through how to upload fonts to Canva, how my licensing works for Canva use, and a few of my favorite fonts to use there — both free and premium.

How to Upload Fonts to Canva

First, make sure you’re using Canva Pro or a Canva for Teams account. The ability to upload custom fonts isn’t available on the free version (I know, I wish it were too).

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Head to your Brand Kit.
From your Canva home screen, click “Brand” in the left sidebar, then open your Brand Kit.
  2. Find the Font section.
You’ll see a section labeled “Brand Fonts.” This is where your uploaded fonts will live.
  3. Click “Upload a font.”
Upload your .otf or .ttf file — both work. Once uploaded, Canva will automatically add it to your available fonts list.
  4. Accept the prompt.
Canva will ask if you have the right to use the font — make sure you do (more on that in a second).
  5. Start designing.
Once uploaded, you can use your custom fonts in any of your Canva projects!

That’s it. Super simple.

Using Jen Wagner Type Fonts in Canva

If you’ve purchased a Desktop License for one of my fonts, you can absolutely upload it to Canva to use in your own projects — graphics, client presentations, social posts, and so on.

A Desktop License covers any design work where you’re the one creating the final, flattened graphics (like a social post or a PDF).

However, if you’re a template designer who wants to include one of my fonts in a Canva template — meaning others will be able to edit or re-use the font themselves — that requires a Template License.

Basically:

  • ✅ Desktop License → Use my fonts in your own designs within Canva.
  • 🚫 Desktop License → Does not cover embedding my fonts into editable Canva templates.
  • 💡 Template License → Covers including my fonts in templates that are sold, shared, or reused.

I know licensing isn’t the most exciting topic, but making sure you have the right one keeps things fair and ensures the fonts continue being available for creatives like you.

Jen Wagner Type Fonts Available for Free in Canva

A few of my (much older) typefaces are already available directly inside Canva — no upload needed!

You can search and use them right away in any design:

  • Calgary
  • Versailles
  • London

Each one is a little different — Calgary is simple and down-to-earth, Versailles adds a touch of elegance, and London’s a modern bold serif.

If you want to experiment with my fonts before diving into premium options, these are great starting points.

My Top Premium Font Picks for Canva

Final Thoughts

So yes — fonts can absolutely be uploaded to Canva, and using your own fonts is one of the best ways to make your brand stand out (and not feel like everyone else’s Canva template).

Just remember:

  • Upload your font files through your Brand Kit.
  • Make sure you have the right license for how you’re using them.
  • And when in doubt, stick with type that reflects your brand’s tone.

If you’re ready to try some new fonts in Canva, start with the free ones (Calgary, Versailles, London) or explore one of the premium families above!
