I was skeptical, too. But once I started assembling things in InDesign, I'll never go back to Photoshop or other image editors.
The ability to quickly customize in ways that affect the entire template, the ease of a copy/paste assembly, being able to see everything in one place and organize your workflow... it's unlike any other program.
I can't imagine designing emails any other way.
The pieces Jen provides makes everything so simple. Then the character and object styles just transform into your branding and you basically never have to think again. Thank you thank you thank you.

Step 4: Upload to your Email Provider
You just link the images! So if you want your button to go to a product page, you just insert the URL for when people click on that image block, just like you’d link a button in Flodesk.
You can use these on any email platform, including Flodesk! Since you’re just uploading and linking images, it works in whatever program you use.
This all started when I realized Flodesk exports basically everything that’s not a “Text Block” as a rasterized image. (I also get so many image-only emails from my favorite brands without issue). So while I'm not well-versed enough in the tech side of email to know for sure, my thinking is if it works for Flodesk users, this isn't much different!
I would say for best practices, if you’re sending a long newsletter or have a big chunk of text, to use the email builder to lay it out and then just replace that chunk with live text once you start constructing your email. And always (ALWAYS!) use Alt Text to describe your images for accessibility help (and searchability)
Exporting is two steps. First, you’ll export the entire email as a single image from InDesign. Then, you’ll use the Slice tool in Photoshop to tell it how to cut it up into individual images when you export from there. View Step 3 of the tutorials below for the full-length how-to!

AT FIRST, I JUST MADE THIS FOR MYSELF
I knew sending more emails was a surefire way to make more sales, but I hated designing them...
and not sending emails was costing me sales. so i made this template.
I was spending SO much time designing emails that still just felt flat, lifeless, and unlike me.
I eventually stopped sending sales and promo emails because they...
Despite trying to create templates in Photoshop or find other ways to expedite my workflow, emails were still taking me forever, and they still...
Once I'd assemble all the pieces together, they still just felt... off? Plus, creating any other variations for the design was completely unorganized and time-consuming.
qualifying. Not a freebie. But still a quick win. This should move them further down the line to book or purchase and make them feel more confident in that decision.
Even less time on your hands? Just drag and drop your images and update the copy on any of the 20 pre-designed templates, and you're good to go!
